The short version
- Your photos and videos are scanned on your phone. They are never uploaded to us or to anyone else.
- No account, no sign-in. We never ask for your name or email.
- Deleted photos go to the Android system trash and can be restored for about 30 days.
- Ads (Google AdMob) and purchases (Google Play Billing) are handled by Google and involve limited data, explained below.
This policy explains what Photo Cleaner (“the App”) does with information when you use it. The App is published by PipeX (“we”, “us”).
1. Information we collect
We do not collect your photos, videos or personal details. The App has no user accounts and no server of ours that receives your media. Finding duplicates, similar shots, blurry photos, screenshots and chat-app media happens entirely on your device.
Third-party services used by the App receive limited technical information, described in sections 4 to 6.
2. Permissions and why the App needs them
- Photos and videos (
READ_MEDIA_IMAGES,READ_MEDIA_VIDEO; on Android 12 and earlierREAD_EXTERNAL_STORAGE). The App’s core job is to compare every photo and video in your library with the others to find duplicates and similar shots. That cannot be done on a handful of hand-picked files. The App reads your media on the device only and does not send it anywhere. - Selected photos access (
READ_MEDIA_VISUAL_USER_SELECTED). On Android 14 and later you may grant access to only some photos. The App then works on those photos only; results are limited to them. - Deleting uses Android’s own system confirmation dialog. The App does not delete anything without it.
3. What the App stores on your device
To avoid re-scanning your whole library every time, the App keeps a small local database in its private storage: file identifiers, sizes, hashes and similarity fingerprints of your media, plus your settings and your monthly cleaning usage. It does not contain copies of your photos. This data stays on your device. Clearing the App’s data or uninstalling it deletes all of it; there is no copy on our side.
4. Deleting photos: the system trash
When you confirm a deletion, the App asks Android to move the selected items to the system trash. They stay there for about 30 days before Android removes them permanently, and you can restore them from your gallery or the system trash at any time before that. Items in the trash still use storage until they expire or you empty the trash. Blurry-photo suggestions are never selected automatically, and the App never deletes anything you have not chosen and confirmed.
5. Purchases (Google Play Billing)
Pro is a one-time purchase made through Google Play Billing. Payment is processed by Google; we never see your card or payment details. We receive only whether the purchase is valid so we can unlock Pro. See Google’s Privacy Policy.
6. Advertising (Google AdMob)
Free users see a banner ad on the results screen; Pro users see no ads. Ads are served by Google AdMob, which may collect and process device identifiers (such as the advertising ID), your IP address and approximate location derived from it, device and app information, and diagnostics and ad-interaction data, to deliver and measure ads and to prevent fraud. We do not receive this data; we receive only aggregate revenue reports.
- Consent. Where the law requires it (for example in the EEA and the UK) the App asks for consent through Google’s User Messaging Platform before ads are personalised, and you can change that choice later.
- Opting out. On Android, reset or delete your advertising ID, or turn off ad personalisation, under Settings → Privacy → Ads.
- Google’s policy. See How Google uses information from sites or apps that use our services.
7. Anonymous usage analytics (Google Firebase Analytics)
From version 1.0.1 the App uses Google Firebase Analytics to count how features are used, so we can fix what does not work. Events contain an event name and coarse values only (for example “scan completed, 1–5 GB found” or “paywall shown”), plus basic technical information Firebase adds (app version, device model, OS version, language, approximate country and an app-instance identifier). They never contain your photos, file names, folder paths or anything about their content. Collection of the advertising ID and ad-personalisation signals by Analytics is turned off.
7a. Rewarded ads
Free users can choose to watch a short rewarded ad from Google AdMob to get extra cleaning allowance (up to four times a month). Watching is always optional and only offered when you ask to clean more than your free allowance. AdMob processes the data described in section 6 to show and measure that ad.
8. What the App does not do
- No upload of your photos or videos, and no cloud backup.
- No account, contacts, microphone, camera or call-log access.
- No access to other apps’ private data. In particular the App cannot read or clean the private cache of chat apps; it works only with photos and videos those apps saved to your gallery.
- No selling, renting or sharing of personal information; we hold none to sell.
9. Children
The App is for a general audience and is not directed to children under 13. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children.
10. Your rights
Because we do not hold personal information about you, there is nothing for us to export, correct or erase on request. Where Google processes data for ads or payments, use Google’s own account and ad controls. If you are in the EEA, the UK, India, California or another region with data-protection rights, you may contact us at the address below with any request or question.
11. Data deletion
To remove everything the App holds, open Android Settings → Apps → Photo Cleaner → Storage → Clear data, or uninstall the App. No request to us is needed. Photos you moved to the system trash are managed by Android and expire on their own after about 30 days.
12. Security
Your data stays in the App’s private storage on your device, protected by Android’s app sandbox. Network requests made by Google services (ads, billing) use HTTPS. Keeping your photos on the device and off our servers removes the largest category of risk.
13. Changes to this policy
If a future version changes what data the App touches, this page is updated before that version is published and the effective date changes with it.
