Namaz Time: Prayer & Qibla

This policy explains what Namaz Time: Prayer & Qibla (“the App”) does with information when you use it. The App is published by PipeX (“we”, “us”). It is provided free of charge and supported by optional advertising.

1. Information we collect

We collect nothing about you. The App has no user accounts, no login, no profile, and no server of ours behind it. We do not receive your prayer settings, your city, your usage, or any identifier.

The App does use two third-party services that receive limited technical information in order to work. These are described in sections 4 and 5.

2. What the App stores on your device

Your preferences are saved in the App’s private storage area on your device. This includes:

• the city you selected and any other cities you saved;
• your calculation settings — calculation method, Asr madhab, manual per-prayer minute adjustments, Hijri date offset, and Imsak preference;
• your notification preferences — which prayers alert you, the alert style, and any pre-prayer reminder;
• your chosen app language;
• whether you have completed the introduction screens, and which optional features you have unlocked.

This data never leaves your device and is not readable by other apps. Uninstalling the App, or clearing its data from Android Settings, deletes all of it permanently. There is no copy on our side to delete.

3. Location

The App does not read your device’s GPS location to calculate prayer times. You choose your city yourself, and the coordinates of that city are what the calculation uses.

The App declares Android’s approximate-location permission (ACCESS_COARSE_LOCATION) so that an optional “use my current location” convenience can be offered. Android will always ask you first, and you can decline and keep using every feature. If you do grant it, the approximate coordinates are used on your device only, to pick prayer times and the Qibla direction — they are not sent to us and not attached to any advertising request.

The App never requests background location. It cannot and does not track where you go.

4. City search (Open-Meteo)

When you type into the city picker, the text you typed is sent to the Open-Meteo geocoding service at geocoding-api.open-meteo.com to look up matching cities, their coordinates, and their time zone. As with any internet request, Open-Meteo’s servers see the search text and your IP address. We do not attach any identifier, advertising ID, or account to that request.

The App also ships with a built-in list of cities, so the picker still works with no internet connection. Once your city is set, prayer times, the Hijri calendar, the Qibla compass, notifications, and the home-screen widget all work fully offline.

5. Advertising (Google AdMob)

The App shows rewarded ads only — an ad appears only after you tap a button to watch one in exchange for unlocking an optional feature. There are no banners, no interstitials, and no ads that appear on their own.

Rewarded ads are served by Google AdMob. When you choose to watch one, Google may process your device’s advertising identifier, IP address, device and app information, and your interaction with the ad, including for the purpose of showing relevant ads and measuring them. We never receive that data ourselves; we only receive aggregate earnings reports from Google.

• Consent. The App uses Google’s User Messaging Platform to ask for consent where the law requires it (for example in the EEA and the UK) before ads are personalised. You can change or withdraw that choice at any time.
• Opting out of personalised ads. On Android you can delete or reset your advertising ID, or turn off ad personalisation, under Settings → Privacy → Ads. Non-personalised ads may still be shown.
• Google’s policy. See How Google uses information from sites or apps that use our services.

If you never tap a rewarded ad, the ads SDK is not initialised and no ad request is made.

6. Notifications, alarms, and sensors

• Notifications and exact alarms. Prayer alerts are scheduled locally by your device. There is no push server: nothing about your alerts travels over the internet. The App asks for notification permission and for permission to schedule exact alarms, because a prayer alert that arrives late is useless.
• Restart after reboot. The App is allowed to run briefly when your phone finishes starting up, purely to re-schedule your alerts. Without this, alarms would silently stop after every restart.
• Compass sensor. The Qibla screen reads your device’s compass and orientation sensors while that screen is open. The readings are used on screen in real time and are never stored or transmitted. Devices without a compass can still use every other part of the App.
• Vibration. Used only to vibrate for an alert you enabled.

7. What the App does not do

• No analytics or usage-tracking SDK.
• No crash-reporting SDK.
• No advertising ID collected or stored by us.
• No contacts, photos, microphone, camera, or call-log access.
• No in-app purchases and no payment details of any kind.
• No selling, renting, or sharing of personal information — we hold none to sell.

8. Children

The App is rated for a general audience and is not directed to children under 13. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children. If you believe a child has provided personal information through the App, please contact us and we will act on it.

9. Your rights

Because we hold no personal information about you, there is nothing for us to export, correct, or erase on request. You remain in full control of the data on your device: clear the App’s data or uninstall it and everything is gone.

• India (DPDP Act, 2023) — we process no personal data of Indian users on our systems.
• EEA and UK (GDPR) — we are not a controller of any personal data from the App. Where Google processes data for advertising, consent is collected in-app through Google’s consent form, and you may withdraw it at any time.
• California (CCPA/CPRA) — we do not sell or share personal information.

10. Data deletion

To delete everything the App holds: open Android Settings → Apps → Namaz Time → Storage → Clear data, or simply uninstall the App. No request to us is needed, because we store no copy of your data. To reset advertising data held by Google, use Settings → Privacy → Ads on your device and Google’s own account controls.

11. Security

Your data stays in the App’s private storage on your own device, protected by Android’s app sandbox. Requests to the services named above are made over HTTPS. No method of storage or transmission is completely secure, but keeping data on your device — and not on our servers — removes the largest category of risk entirely.

12. Changes to this policy

If a future version of the App changes what data it touches, this page is updated before that version is published, and the effective date at the top changes with it. Please check back here from time to time.
